2015 February Newsletter

Message From the Principal

Celebrating Sweethearts….
January proved to be an awesome start to the new year. Many new families have joined us; we are so happy to have them join our Discovery Isle family!
During the month of February, we will be celebrating love, family and friendships throughout the school. Be sure to keep up with our Spirit Days and join in on all fun dress up days! Creativity scores big points!
In addition, keep an eye out for information on classroom parties and a couple special events. Tooth Keri will be coming to Discovery Isle to talk about good oral hygiene with our smart kids.
Lastly, we had such a HUGE success with our Little Caesars fundraiser. Thank you for all those who supported us. These fundraisers have been so great, and I know we have quite a few throughout the year. Please do not feel obligated to participate in all of them, pick which ever ones peak you or your family and friends interests. Keep in mind there are several bonus for selling lots of items such as free electronics and tuition scholarships. We always appreciate all of your support!  Until next month.. Christy Lang

Valentines Twinkie on a Stick
Supplies needed: Twinkies, lollipop sticks, white candy melts & valentines sprinkles.
How to make it: Melt candy melts according to the package directions. Unwrap all of the Twinkies, and dip the sticks about 1/3 of the way in the melted candy. Insert sticks in the Twinkies and place on the wax paper liked baking sheet. When all are done place in pan in freezer for 10 minutes. Re-melt the candy, then removed Twinkies from freezer and coat completely in melted candy. Tap off excess, place back on wax paper lined baking sheet. Once all Twinkies are coated, drizzled additional melted candy of your choice. Add red, pink good coloring to chocolate or dark chocolate. You can drizzle colored chocolate with a fork over the Twinkie in a zig zag motion. Before candy is set, sprinkle with festive valentines sprinkles. Place pan back in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes until the candy is set. Wrap in long cello or decorative baggies, Lastly, tie with a ribbon so you can pass these babies out!! Such a cute yummy treat for your valentine!
